CEO | Founder

experia view

Executive summary

A taste of the movie industry. The software was an online marketplace that operated like a movie trading market. With myself as CEO and John Bardis as co-founder, we were able to reach the market and distribute over 20K digital movies with NFT technology. At our peak, we secured a partnership with Dapper Labs to ease the signup process needed.

the problem

Currently, the industry lacks a modern method of distribution when it comes to paid quality content. Creators are forced to give up control of pricing or resort to DVD, or general paywall distribution (which usually means they email the link). The value of the physical film was rapidly declining, which in turn was affecting everyone's (except the streaming companies) pay.

my journey

Starting From Scratch

The objective was always to gain as much knowledge from a start-up before pursuing my own vision. After meeting my co-founder John Bardis, we were able to put a small development team together and recreate a tech project I had been working on and off since high school. My initial responsibilities were endless but mainly focused on meeting interested filmmakers, presenting at film festivals, design/marketing, and fundraising.

creating value

Building a Foundation

After obtaining interest from vast filmmakers, we were able to grow the marketplace waitlist to 20K, secure 2 feature films, and a short film. With no funding, I was responsible for everything outside of development. This included: CRM, Design, Customer Outreach, Website, and Partnerships. After 6 months of cold outreach, we were able to secure a partnership with Dapper Labs, allowing us to integrate our marketplace with their checkout system. Allowing the same ease of use that NBA Topshot and UFC Strike have which allows users to pay with a card and instantly convert it to crypto (out of site) making the purchase painless for non-crypto users.

Market research

Here are some core responsibilities

Building the foundation. From an idea on a notepad to a launched operating movie marketplace. The idea continued to mature as I interviewed potential users and filmmakers.

Networking with filmmakers allowed me to learn the true nature of the movie industry. The business model is unique and their licensing is very different from other industries. This included touring the United States and speaking at various film festivals

Marketing and Growth were my core functions for the team. With minimal budget, we were able to amass a healthy waitlist and sell out of our initial bundle of movies.

resolve

Landing on Both Feet

Failure is hard but not imminent. My co-founder and I parted ways amicably after failing to secure high-interest films and funding for the launch. The experience gave me a master's in the business of the movie industry and showed me the importance of initial funding or relationships in the space before being allowed space. We were able to launch one film, with a few bugs before running dry on the current funding

solution

Native app for monitoring and supervision during the date

Onboarding

After the user has seen the various uses that can benefit her in the use of our product we will ask her to identify as a woman to protect the purity of the product and to raise in her a sense of security.

Background Check

To motivate the user to use the app, we will lead her to run a background check on one of the guys she is communicating with. Checking the background can empower the value we offer - a sense of security and control - knowledge is power.

Date Entry

While entering the date data the app gathers all the information needed to provide the user with the protection she needs. The step will be broken down into several steps to reduce the effort required from the user which will also help to focus her at every step.

During the Date

During the date, the app will send alerts according to the settings we set on the "date entry".

Reporting

To collect information that will be useful to our users, at the end of each date the user will be asked to report the date. We will make sure at this point to lower her concerns by security stamp and noting the fact that the information she is providing remains confidential.

Conclusion

We lasted 3 1/2 years before running out of funding. The company was 100% self-raised, and when the time came I failed to secure the needed amount to continue. After parting with John Bardis, and feeling the exhaustion that came with it, we closed Experia Views doors for now.
