Executive summary

A ChatGPT experiment at its finest. Confession[ai] is an AI chatbot that is prompted to be the user's Preacher and guide them through a traditional confessional with no judgment at all. The platform is built on React Native and is available only on Android.

the problem

No method for Catholics to confess remotely. All confessional applications were focused on providing the guidelines as opposed to the experience.

my journey

Getting Started

The process took way too long for the overall end result. I quickly became obsessed with making the UI perfect without outsourcing the work to professionals. It was my introduction to Google Firebase though. Which I now use regularly to build and scale small projects.

The fun part about this project was the marketing, and freedom or conversation. Similar to how GPT began to pick up steam, users would screenshot funny prompts or poems the AI wrote. This ai allowed you to share your deepest, darkest secrets with a return send who bared no judgment.

Testing and training my AI to hold no judgment and display empathy when needed. Since we are dealing with religion it was important I prompted him with the right values as well.

Launching my first app on the Play Store was a learning experience. After 4 rejections I was finally able to identify my errors and go live with the application.

The relief that comes with an app approval is parallel to none. After 4 rejections I was able to get approved and begin operating on all Android phones.

Onboarding

After the user has seen the various uses that can benefit her in the use of our product we will ask her to identify as a woman to protect the purity of the product and to raise in her a sense of security.

Background Check

To motivate the user to use the app, we will lead her to run a background check on one of the guys she is communicating with. Checking the background can empower the value we offer - a sense of security and control - knowledge is power.

Date Entry

While entering the date data the app gathers all the information needed to provide the user with the protection she needs. The step will be broken down into several steps to reduce the effort required from the user which will also help to focus her at every step.

During the Date

During the date, the app will send alerts according to the settings we set on the "date entry".

Reporting

To collect information that will be useful to our users, at the end of each date the user will be asked to report the date. We will make sure at this point to lower her concerns by security stamp and noting the fact that the information she is providing remains confidential.

Conclusion

The app was a miss... I didn't give it enough of my attention, and if I could I would rebuild it using just react.js as I became a lot more familiar with it since I last opened this file. I got a few downloads from organic videos on TikTok, but I was never happy with how it looked overall and lacked the ability to enhance it at the time.
